Considering American Fork vs Memphis -help me decide

Hey, Been living here since 2021. Household incomes average around $95,823 in American Fork. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. The unemployment rate is 2.4%, which is pretty low. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Worth the trade-offs? The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I've lived in Westside for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The public transit scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much manageable but now it's pretty good.
