OK so I'm a college student here and Household incomes average around $39,527 in Americus. You can expect to pay around $825 for rent here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Should I be concerned? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I work in consulting here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is challenging. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 4 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Urban sprawl is real
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.
