Ames is underrated, change my mind

Hey everyone, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Median household income is $60,102, which feels about average for the area. Poverty rate is 5.2%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,040 for rent here. The median home value here is around $263,800, which seems about average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Does this match your experience? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Bought a house here in 2017 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The pet-friendliness is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..
