Born and raised here. Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 35,472, Amherst Town is a smaller city. Crime rate is something to consider -Amherst Town sits at 250.0 per 100K. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Boston it's improving.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Westside area are excellent. Kids love it here.
