Moving from Nashville to Amityville next month

Random thought, I'm a remote worker and It's a a small town city with about 9,513 people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 14 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Uptown. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in government. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in legal. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

No regrets on my end..

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great Thai places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in The Heights area are pretty good. Kids love it here.
