The unemployment rate is 1.5%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Any advice would be great. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Westside area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in engineering. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Definitely worth checking out..

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.
