I grew up here but left for a while. Average temperature is around 62°F, so the weather is moderate. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Am I overthinking this? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Westside for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Affordable housing options
- The food scene scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Limited entertainment options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 11 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Maple Ridge area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Austin it's average.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
