Hey, The unemployment rate is 2.4%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $56,167 in Anamosa. Rent is about $897/month for a decent place. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What are your go-to spots? TIA! The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I've lived in Riverside for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- The walkability scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Rising rent and home prices
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Houston about 14 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is improving.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.

I work in legal here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is average. Feel free to reach out with questions..
