Longtime lurker here, Born and raised here. Rent is about $1,167/month for a decent place. What are your go-to spots? Thanks!

I've lived in Greenfield for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The pet-friendliness scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor recreation is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much affordable but now it's underrated.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The cost of living is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 10 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Bought a house here in 2023 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Dallas about 4 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
