Anchorage is underrated, change my mind

I keep seeing people overlook Anchorage when talking about great places to live. With a population of 289,069, it's big enough to have everything you need but small enough to feel like a community. There are tons of parks and outdoor spaces. Winters are harsh but summers are beautiful. Average temp is around 26F.

Respectfully disagree about the cost of living assessment. In my experience, it really depends on your lifestyle.

Coming from Chicago, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are slightly more expensive but housing makes up for it.

If you can afford it, Riverside is the best place to live. Period.

Good summary. I'd rate it higher personally — maybe 7/10.

Check out the Southside area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

I work in logistics and finding a job wasn't hard. Took about 6 months.

Been here 20 years. The city has changed a lot but overall for the better.

Don't sleep on Eastside. It's up and coming and still affordable.
