Rent prices in Anchorage getting crazy

Anyone else noticing rent going up fast in Anchorage? Over the last year, I feel like prices went up at least 10-15%. I'm paying $1453 for a studio which feels okay for the area.

Are there any neighborhoods that are still affordable? Thinking about moving to a cheaper area.

The job market has been improving lately. Several education companies moved in recently.

I work in manufacturing and finding a job wasn't hard. Took about 5 months.

I'd add that the school system has been improving steadily. Otherwise spot on!

Totally agree with this. I've been here 11 years and my experience is very similar.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

Don't sleep on Eastside. It's up and coming and still affordable.

The food scene here is seriously underrated. So many great restaurants.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

Good summary. I'd rate it higher personally — maybe 7/10.
