So, You can expect to pay around $909 for rent here. The suburbs are where most families end up. Thanks! Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely excellent and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (South) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The weather is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Bought a house here in 2020 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely average and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (North) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 3 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been here 6 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is underrated.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in North. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in education. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Westside area are decent. Kids love it here.
