Best kept secrets of Anderson, SC
Hey folks, Been living here since 2018. With a population of 29,563, Anderson is a smaller city. Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. Poverty rate is 16.4%, which is higher than I expected. Crime rate is something to consider -Anderson sits at 969.4 per 100K. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.
Pros:
- Close to nature
- Lots of new development
- Strong sense of community
- Good airport connections
Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Homelessness issues downtown
What are your go-to spots? The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
