Not sure if this has been asked before, but My family moved here when I was a kid. Average temperature is around 57--F, so the weather is moderate. Rent is about $1,481/month for a decent place. It's a a small town city with about 15,508 people. The median home value here is around $272,600, which seems about average. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What do you all think? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I work in government here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is underrated. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 6 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is improving in most areas.

Used to live on the Lakewood side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Cedar Grove. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.
