Hello, I'm single, late 20s, and It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Am I wrong here?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Austin about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Bought a house here in 2018 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Fairview. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in retail. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like sushi.

No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 56, moved here 3 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Fairview and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Close to major attractions
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Dating scene is rough
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The nightlife situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for retirees. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $70K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much growing but now it's challenging.
