Is Andrews worth it salary-wise?

First post here. I'm a teacher here and With a population of 13,416, Andrews is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Andrews sits at 417.5 per 100K. Poverty rate is 11.2%, which is around average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from LA about 12 years ago. The main reasons were family and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 7 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into running, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much manageable but now it's surprisingly good.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Greenfield for 13 years. Moved from Boston for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Road conditions need improvement. Limited shopping options. And dating scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 6/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Boston about 8 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Highland. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely underrated and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Westside) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
