Hi all, My family moved here when I was a kid. Household incomes average around $78,896 in Andrews. The unemployment rate is 1.5%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What are your go-to spots? The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. job market used to be much manageable but now it's improving.

I work in manufacturing here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is decent. Good luck with whatever you decide..

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Highland area are challenging. Kids love it here.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a electrician, 37, moved here 1 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Four distinct seasons
2. Affordable housing options
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The job market situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for remote workers. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $80K-$120K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
