Moving from Tampa to Angier next month

Hey everyone, Household incomes average around $51,162 in Angier. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What do you all think? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Used to live on the Fairview side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. it exceeded my expectations.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely pretty good and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Fairview) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in South. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in real estate. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 2 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.
