Alright, The median home value here is around $311,300, which seems about average. It's a a smaller city city with about 70,542 people. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Has anyone dealt with this? Looking forward to hearing from you all.

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 5 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Uptown for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The weather scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The walkability is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Chicago about 4 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is challenging.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Downtown) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
