Commute times in Ankeny -how bad?

Curious what people think. Homes are going for about $311,300 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,279 for rent here. Median household income is $106,603, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's a a smaller city city with about 70,542 people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Has anyone dealt with this? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is traffic. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Baltimore about 15 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is tough.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Happy to answer more specific questions..
