Biggest downsides of living in Ann Arbor?

Random thought, I'm a teacher here and Homes are going for about $435,100 on average. The median home value here is around $435,100, which is pretty steep. You can expect to pay around $1,552 for rent here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Is this normal for Ann Arbor? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

I've lived in East for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening
- The cost of living scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Good luck with whatever you decide..
