Housing market in Ann Arbor — is it worth buying?

Median home value here is around $435,100. Prices are steep but there are pockets of affordability. For those renting, typical rent is $1552.

Is now a good time to buy in Ann Arbor? Or better to keep renting?

Looking for opinions from both homeowners and renters.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is drive around neighborhoods at different times before committing. Makes a big difference.

The food scene here is seriously underrated. So many great restaurants.

Weather is the biggest factor for us. Four seasons are nice, not too extreme either way.

I'd add that healthcare options are better than most cities this size. Otherwise spot on!

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.

I've lived in Midtown for 6 years and it's decent, has its pros and cons.

Rent tip: look for places in January-February. Prices drop and there's more availability.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

Don't sleep on Riverside. It's up and coming and still affordable.
