Random thought, Rent is about $1,855/month for a decent place. It's a a smaller city city with about 40,744 people. You can expect to pay around $1,855 for rent here. Median household income is $104,257, which feels pretty solid for the area. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What neighborhoods would you suggest? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I'm a writer and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

I work in government here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for quality of life and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The school system is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Chicago it's challenging.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is excellent in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 15 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
