Thinking about relocating to Anniston from Austin

Curious what people think. Been living here since 2007. Crime rate is something to consider -Anniston sits at 2,375.2 per 100K. With a population of 21,377, Anniston is a small town. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. What are your go-to spots? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 6 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Springfield area are tough. Kids love it here.
