So, Crime rate is something to consider -Anoka sits at 250.1 per 100K. With a population of 17,941, Anoka is a small town. The weather takes some getting used to. What do you all think? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in South. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 3 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in West. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in government. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Asian.
