So, I'm retired and Poverty rate is 5.5%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $292,900, which seems about average. With a population of 17,941, Anoka is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Anoka sits at 250.1 per 100K. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. Am I wrong here? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely underrated and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely challenging and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
