Military spouse here. You can expect to pay around $725 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Thoughts? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 10 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The traffic is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Came here for school and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The cultural scene is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Boston about 15 years ago. The main reasons were family and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is decent.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.
