Best coffee shops in Antigo?

I'm retired and Homes are going for about $94,700 on average. The median home value here is around $94,700, which is actually reasonable. Household incomes average around $46,791 in Antigo. With a population of 8,058, Antigo is a small town. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance! People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 11 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Highland) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Westside. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in legal. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Asian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
