First time home buyer in Antioch

Anyone else feel this way? Rent is about $2,241/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 60--F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $94,256, which feels pretty solid for the area. The unemployment rate is 4.6%, which is about average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Midtown. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in education. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
