Pros and cons of Antioch after 10 years
Hey everyone, You can expect to pay around $2,241 for rent here. Anyone in a similar situation?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2017 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The nightlife is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..
