Unpopular opinion about Antioch

First post here. My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $607,400 on average. Median household income is $94,256, which feels pretty solid for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Antioch sits at 575.3 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 4.6%, which is about average. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Low crime in most areas
- Close to nature
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Far from major airports
- Chain restaurants dominate
Thanks for reading. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Fairview for 15 years. Moved from Atlanta for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is average - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Dating scene is rough. And school system can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 7/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
