Alright, I relocated for work and With a population of 116K, Antioch is a mid-size city. Homes are going for about $607,400 on average. The unemployment rate is 4.6%, which is about average. Rent is about $2,241/month for a decent place. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Bought a house here in 2017 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Downtown. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in government. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Asian.

I've lived in West for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
- The school system scene is decent
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'm a sales manager and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is decent and there's always something going on.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is improving in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 15 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
