Apex housing prices -when will it stop?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Rent is about $1,784/month for a decent place. Median household income is $138,442, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $514,800 on average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Close to nature
- Easy commute
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Boring for young people
- Limited cultural events
- Chain restaurants dominate
Anyone in a similar situation? Any help is appreciated. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 1 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The housing market is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much developing but now it's tough.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a chef, 39, moved here 15 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Lakewood and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Homeless population growing downtown
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The community vibe situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Lakewood: Great for young professionals. solid vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $100K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
