Apex job market vs New York

Been meaning to ask this. My family moved here when I was a kid. The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $138,442, which feels pretty solid for the area. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I overthinking this? The city has invested a lot in new development.

I'm a chef and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.
