How are the schools in Apex?

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a remote worker and The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. With a population of 67,765, Apex is a smaller city. The median home value here is around $514,800, which is pretty steep. Homes are going for about $514,800 on average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Any advice would be great. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Greenfield for 9 years. Moved from San Diego for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Bugs and humidity in summer. Far from beaches/mountains. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 35, moved here 9 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Pine Hills and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The nightlife situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for retirees. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much reasonable but now it's underrated.
