Day-to-day life in Apopka, FL

Random thought, I'm a teacher here and Median household income is $95,703, which feels pretty solid for the area. Rent is about $2,009/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 6.4%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Apopka sits at 374.1 per 100K. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Growing food scene
- Low taxes
- Lots of new development
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Limited dining options
- Limited cultural events
- Homelessness issues downtown
- Not enough green space
Does this match your experience? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in finance. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Definitely worth checking out..
