Anyone else feel this way? We have two kids and Household incomes average around $95,703 in Apopka. The median home value here is around $364,300, which seems about average. It's a a smaller city city with about 56,202 people. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 1 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Bought a house here in 2022 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Pine Hills. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in legal. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from San Diego about 15 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Houston about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is decent.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2015 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
