Is public transit usable in Apple Valley?

First post here. I'm a teacher here and The median home value here is around $377,300, which seems about average. The unemployment rate is 4.7%, which is about average. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Any advice would be great. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is average in most areas.

I've lived in East for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- The walkability scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..
