Moving to Apple Valley with kids -good idea?

Random thought, I'm a 33-year-old sales rep and Crime rate is something to consider -Apple Valley sits at 457.8 per 100K. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Cheers.
