From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Phoenix about 8 years ago. The main reasons were weather and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Winters are long and cold
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is challenging.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is traffic. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
