Curious what people think. Median household income is $99,277, which feels pretty solid for the area. The weather takes some getting used to. Does this match your experience? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much established but now it's improving.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The traffic is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from San Diego about 9 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Tampa about 3 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is decent.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in East for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- The dating scene scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..
