Alright, Been living here since 2014. Rent is about $1,678/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 44--F, so bundle up in winter. The median home value here is around $354,200, which seems about average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Would love some local perspective. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is safety. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Used to live on the South side, now on the Uptown side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Maple Ridge. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much affordable but now it's challenging.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.
