Been meaning to ask this. I work in tech and Poverty rate is 5.5%, which is pretty low.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is traffic. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I work in healthcare here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Hope this helps!.

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Nashville it's solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in North. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 13 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The healthcare is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the South side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
