Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm single, late 40s, and The unemployment rate is 6.3%, which is concerning. Crime rate is something to consider -Arabi sits at 235.7 per 100K. With a population of 4,436, Arabi is a small town. Average temperature is around 70--F, so the weather is moderate. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Thoughts? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Austin about 12 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
