Moving from Memphis to Aragon next month

Alright, My family moved here when I was a kid. Crime rate is something to consider -Aragon sits at 404.9 per 100K. Household incomes average around $59,545 in Aragon. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Anyone in a similar situation? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely excellent and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Springfield) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Moved here from Tampa about 11 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to housing market but No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2024 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 45, moved here 11 years ago from New York. I've lived in Highland and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The public transit situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for retirees. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
