The unemployment rate is 10.8%, which is concerning. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What would you do? The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I've lived in Riverside for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- The food scene scene is solid
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Nightlife is limited
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
