Working in Arbutus -salaries realistic?

Random thought, We have two kids and The median home value here is around $296,800, which seems about average. You can expect to pay around $1,238 for rent here. Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Any advice would be great. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much developing but now it's decent.

I work in finance here and I love the pace of life here. The job market for my field is pretty good. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Eastside for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
- The dating scene scene is average

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if dating scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

The food scene here is decent. Tons of great craft beer places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Riverside area are decent. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Highland for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- The dating scene scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Sunset. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
