Not sure if this has been asked before, but It's a a small town city with about 18,578 people. With a population of 18,578, Arcata is a small town. The unemployment rate is 8.5%, which is concerning. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Let me know your thoughts. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
