Is public transit usable in Arcata?
Hi all, Just moved here 17 months ago and Median household income is $48,731, which feels on the lower side for the area. Homes are going for about $466,600 on average. The unemployment rate is 8.5%, which is concerning. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What do you all think? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.
