Came here for family and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The healthcare is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Lakewood for 11 years. Moved from Denver for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is average - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Homeless population growing downtown. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 8/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in South for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- The community vibe scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 4 years ago. The main reasons were weather and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is tough.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 58, moved here 9 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in Maple Ridge and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Limited shopping options
3. The cost of living situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for remote workers. improving vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Tampa it's tough.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.
